SenSuoSa, or Paths, Sounds and Flavors
A guided food and wine tour through the Levanto valley, between nature, music, joy and typical recipes and food.
The participation fee includes guided tour, dinner with traditional dishes, wines, concert and minibus back to town.
Piazza Cavour – Via Guani – Mura medievali – Loggia – Antico porto canale -Sant’Andrea – Castello – Piazzetta della Compera
The itinerary winds through the historic center of Levanto which from the current Piazza Cavour (ancient monastery of the Poor Clares – XVII century) through the door of San Cristoforo along Via Guani (once Via dei Forni) to reach the Clock Tower and the 13th century walls rebuilt during the 1500s. The municipal Loggia, documented as early as 1376, overlooks the then port canal which for centuries has been one of the main factors of the flourishing local economy. The visit continues with the ancient dock and the church of Sant’Andrea (news from 1230) up to the Castle (documented for the first time in 1164) and the Piazzetta della Compera where the Levantese branch of the Compere was located in the 16th century of San Giorgio, better known as Banco di San Giorgio, which until 1797 was the main bank of the Republic of Genoa.
Kentaro Kitaya, tenor – Miki Kitaya, piano: famous arias and romances
The Japanese tenor Kentaro Kitaya has a wide repertoire ranging from opera, to lied and from living room romance. He has sung in numerous works both in Japan and in Italy, in Germany and Slovenia [Bohème ”(Rodolfo) and“ Madama Butterfly ”(Pinkerton) by Giacomo Puccini,“ Traviata ”(Alfredo),“ Rigoletto ”(Duca) and“ Nabucco ”(Ismaele) by Giuseppe Verdi,“ Elisir d’amore ”by Donizetti (Nemorino) and“ Rita ”(Beppe) by Gaetano Donizetti,“ La Cambiale di Matrimonio ”(Edoardo) by Gioacchino Rossini,“ Don Giovanni ”(Don Ottavio) by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart].
Miki Kitaya, who graduated in singing in Tokyo in 2003 and in piano in 2016 with a thesis dedicated to the relationship between opera singing and piano transpositions, has a brilliant career as a teacher and numerous collaborations with singers for concerts and auditions.
At the end of the concert you can taste some dishes and products of the Ligurian culinary tradition. The evening menu includes lasagne with pesto, Genoese cima (stuffed meat) and a homemade typical cake. We’ll be obviously drinking the wine of the Levanto valley.
